Kyle Kotary
Kyle is the founder and president of Empire Public Affairs and a founding partner of GC&E Campaign Strategies, a political consulting firm. He specializes in public relations, public affairs, state association communications, crisis management, campaign strategy and management, and public policy implementation.
Some of Kyle’s current and past association clients include the Home Care Association of New York State, the New York Library Association, the New York Physical Therapy Association, Legal Services Funding Alliance of New York, New York State Credit Union League, New York State Charter Schools Association, Financial Service Centers of New York and the Financial Service Centers of America.
Bio
Kyle earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University and a B.A. in Government and Economics from Hamilton College.
Over the past two decades, Kyle has held a variety of senior-level communications and public affairs positions in government in both Albany and Washington, DC. He served as communications director in the New York State Senate and held communications positions in the offices of U.S. Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, then NYS Senate Minority Leader and now Gov. David Paterson, NYS Senate Leader Malcolm Smith, and former NYS Comptroller H. Carl McCall.
While based in Washington, Kyle also served on the staff of Vice President Al Gore in both governmental and campaign capacities and worked in the Administration of Children and Families in the Department of Health and Human Services.
In addition, he has worked on nearly 100 political campaigns at all levels, including Clinton/Gore ’96 and Gore/Lieberman ‘00, as well as dozens of U.S. Senate and House races and numerous state and local races throughout the country.
Kyle is a frequent guest political and media commentator on Capital News 9, NY1 and local ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox affiliates, as well as, on the radio with WROW, WGY, and Talk 1300. He was recognized by THE CAPITOL newspaper as one of five “Up and Coming in the Empire State – Capitol Region” in 2008 and as a “Rising Star – 40 Under 40” in 2009.
Kyle is very active in his community serving on several non-profit boards, as a member of numerous local community organizations, and as a Town Councilman in Bethlehem, NY.
